Position Title: Youth Engagement officer, Summer Position

Summary of Job Description

The Youth Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in the implementation, coordination and evaluation of youth summer programming. He/She will be responsible for the development, coordination and evaluation of activities in association with the ADAM Youth Exchange Program in conjunction with the program group leaders. The incumbent will manage the day-to-day operation of the program, handle multiple activities within a fast paced environment and develop and maintain positive working relationships with the youth and external partners (i.e. twin group, YMCA and vendors).


Duties & Responsibilities

  • -          Assist in the planning and implementing the 2017 ADAM youth exchange that include
  •        Program logistical support during hosting of twin group (i.e. coordinating meals, and  
  •       Transportation); organize and lead weekly leadership development meeting with the
  •       ADAM Youth Exchange Group; oversee and organize fundraising activities with the
  •       ADAM Youth Exchange Group; maintain regular communication with the YMCA
  •       Regional Coordinator, Twin Group Leaders and act as the main point of contact for hosting Of the twin group.


  • -          Assist in the planning and implementing the 2017 ADAM and SOAR summer camp
  • -          Engage youth in ADAM’s mentorship and tutoring programs
  • -          Recruit and manage volunteer staff as required.
  • -          Perform various duties that may arise in support of any ongoing ADAM initiative.



-          Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution majoring in relevant field in social science, community development or recreational and leisure studies and be returning to full-time studies in the fall 2017.

-          Must be between the ages of 15 -30

-          Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person who refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act.

-          Must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/ territorial legislations and regulations.


Required Skills:

-          Experience working with youth between the ages of 12-18

-          Experience working within a community-based organization or non for profit setting.

-          Experience facilitating projects and programs.

-          Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-          Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, complete assignments in an accurate and timely manner.

-          Ability to work in both independent and team settings

-         Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications and Outlook


Position Package:

-          10-Week contract June 19th– August 26th, 2017

-          35 hours per week at $10.85 per hour.
